Why The Payments Doctor Was Created
I didn’t originally set out to become The Payments Doctor.
At one point in my career, I was asked to step in and support merchant services. What was meant to be temporary turned into a five-year deep dive into how the payments industry really works.
That experience changed everything.
I saw that payment processing didn’t have to be confusing, gimmicky, or unfair. When handled correctly, it could be clear, supportive, and aligned with what businesses actually need.
But no matter where I went, I kept hearing the same concerns from clients. Confusing statements. Poor service. Unexpected rate increases. Surprise fees. Systems that worked against them instead of for them.
Eventually, it became impossible to ignore.
Merchant services hadn’t gotten better.
And businesses deserved better.
That’s when I knew it was time to step in and create something different. A calmer, more transparent way to help businesses and nonprofits navigate payments with confidence.
